Current work

Pastoral Scene 2011
Cut paper, collage on handmade paper

Arachne 2011
Handmade paper, cut paper, collage

Chinese Landscape 2011
Collage, cut paper on handmade paper

So........our paper making studio at Redline is finally complete and fully operational. I get to learn from our paper making teacher, Dara Larson, how to create the pulp, and make hand made paper from it. It was a good experience for me, and it totally lead my work to a whole new direction. Anyway... this are sample of the works that I've created as a result of my dabbling in paper making. Also, these pieces might be included in an upcoming group show at Redline called "Pulp Possibillities". Enjoy the preview.

Wall installation

Closeup

This installation, "Pastoral Landscape" consist of ink on tracing paper, with cut paper, paper sculpture and collage. It was all constructed with nails on the wall. It was probably the most stressful part of the exhibition because it was very spontaneous and I didn't really know how it's going to look like in the end. I had an idea in my head of the piece, but just like any wall installation I've done in the past, it's been the use of instinct and intuition that shape the end product.

My solo show at the Riverwest Jazz Gallery

All the pieces are made from cut paper, acrylic, and ink

So........Redline Milwaukee..............I'll just copy and paste from their website so you guys can understand it since I'm not that good with articulating my thoughts.

RedLine is an urban laboratory that seeks to nourish the individual practice of contemporary art and to stimulate the creative potential of the local community to which we are linked. RedLine is dedicated to providing emerging and mid-career visual artists with an immersive environment for studio practice, reflection, collegial dialogue and communal service. By offering a state-of-the-art facility, challenging exhibition programs, and strong connections to the institutional and critical vanguards of contemporary art, RedLine provides artists with unparalleled resources for creative growth, greater visibility, and career enhancement. By training artists to serve the community as educators, and by providing outreach programming, RedLine inspires and impacts new generations of cultural and civic transformers.

Anyway, Redline open in September of 2009, and 6 months after our initial move in as residence artist, we got a time slot in the summer to show the works that we have been doing as part of our residencies. The show's title is Timeline, corresponding to our time at Redline. It was really awesome opening because it was during Milwaukee Gallery Nights and friends came out to see the show. Awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some images from the show. Enjoy!
